Brewster River Gorge Trailhead Brewster River Gorge is an easy hike covering 2.9 miles with an elevation gain of 269 feet, takingabout 1–1.5 hours to complete. This out-and-back trailstarts atthe trailhead near an old covered bridgeand follows the scenic Brewster River through hemlock forest. At the trail’s end, you’ll enjoy a lovely view up the Brewster River Gorge with Mt Mansfield in the distance. The highlight isthe gorge itself, which is impressive at 75 feet. On a warm day, you can take a dip in one of the swimming holes created by the gorge, andthe Brewster River offers peaceful water views with the soothing sound of water flowing over rocks. Wildlife is abundant, including deer, moose, and bird species; the area is particularly known for birdwatching opportunities with warblers, hawks, and woodland birds. The trail is open May – November 1st annually.
