Black Farm Management Area Trail This 1.2-mile loop trail near Hope Valley is generally considered an easy route, taking an average of 24 minutes to complete. The trail runs along the Wood River within a 250-acre area with multiple trail options and features the aband oned Wood River Branch railroad, including old bridge abutments, along with Plain Pond. The management area encompasses approximately 245 acres of mixed forest with hardwoods and evergreens including oaks, maples, white pine, and pitch pine. Historic railroad ties from the Wood River Branch railroad can still be found decomposing in the woods along the path. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.
