The Needham Rail Trail is a 1.7-mile-long section of the Bay Colony Rail Trail on a stone dust trail following the inactive Bay Colony Railroad corridor that is mostly wooded and flat, ideal for walking, running, and biking. The trail runs between Needham Junction and the Charles River, with an elevation gain of 150 feet making it an easy hike. Just before High Rock Street, the trail features a section with high, sheer rock on both sides. The Charles River Peninsula, a Trustees of Reservations site, lies at the beautiful endpoint. Dogs must be kept on leash.
