Assabet River Rail Trail, Marlborough, MAThis easy rail trailfollowsthe aband oned Marlborough Branch of the Fitchburg Railroad. The Marlborough section is a 5.4-mile point-to-point trail, part ofa partially-completed multi-use rail trail running through Marlborough, Hudson, Stow, Maynard, and Acton, Massachusetts. The trail features a paved asphalt surface that is smooth and typically at least 6 feet wide, withmostly gentle grades. Key highlights includewetlands around Flagg Brook that serve as a wildlife corridor, where trail users can spot the Fort Meadow Reservoir from an overlook with benches. The best view of the river comes as the trail crosses a trestle 40 feet above the Assabet River. Trail of Flowers began planting perennial flowers and bushes along the trail in 2018, and there are 2 designated accessible parking spaces with striped access aisles.
