The Appalachian Trail at Water Street features a wheelchair-accessible loop trail along the banks of the Housatonic River, withthe first 0.5 mile accessible per ADA/ABA stand ards. Falls Village offers historic iron works sites, waterfalls, and one of the few wheel-chair friendly trail sections. From this trailhead, hikers can access longer sections of the AT that featurea fabulous stretch near Great Falls, with flat, soft trails popular among residents. The trail passes the scenic “Great Falls of the Housatonic” and leads to Rand’s View, one of the most photographed viewpoints on the Appalachian Trail. The recreation area offers grills, picnic tables, public restrooms, and handicapped fishing access.
