Built by the AMC as one of New Hampshire’s first ski lodges and newly renovated in 2005, Cardigan Lodge is set on a 1,200-acre reservation owned and managed by the AMC. The lodge offers an extensive trail network for hiking and cross-country skiing, a nature trail and swimming pond, and family-friendly programs and theme weekends. The trail options range from easy to strenuous. The Upper and Lower Nature Trails (Easy) is a 1-mile loop that includes interpretive displays as you explore the nearby forests of Cardigan State Forest. For a strenuous hike, Mount Cardigan offers 360-degree views of surrounding White Mountains via the Manning Trail and Holt Trail (1.8 miles), which connects to the Mowglis Trail and Firescrew Mountain before returning to the lodge. The Cardigan All Persons Trail is a one-mile out-and-back trail accessible from the Cardigan Lodge parking lot and can be enjoyed by visitors in wheelchairs, hikers with walkers, families with strollers, and more. The lodge is located on a 1,200-acre reservation with 50 miles of hiking trails.
